I find these samples really soft, even stopped down.

Mark

looks horrible!
I cannot believe this is a Samyang lens, I can only think of a technically poor tester...
Lets wait for more samples.

Adorama has the Rokinon version (but I don't believe it is in stock yet) http://www.adorama.com/RKTSL24MS.html

Mmm. This is disappointing. As Pako says, let's wait for more tests, and keep our fingers crossed!

Pako, do you think that Adorama will get an A mount version that you will be able to try?
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Let us hope it's due to poor testing conditions.

I can not borrow it, I'll need to buy the lens...
It can probably take weeks before Adorama has it on stock.

Those guys are renowned for their twisted tests. They never sharpen those JPEGs correctly; and this time, it seems they also tilt the thing wrong way at times... Well, I guess it's too much 'wodka' (=vodka in Polish) for them.

But this particular sample - http://pliki.optyczne.pl/sam24TS/1/sam24_fot17.JPG - looks very nice bar their beloved 'unsharpness' added.

Agorabasta, that Polish image looks to me like an ordinary picture awaiting treatment in Photoshop's Distortion Filter. The socalled "verticals" look quite "slopy". That is not how I remember the workings of a T/S lens. Years ago I had the 45 or 50 mm Mamiya T/S lens and I had no difficulty in achieving true verticals. I would also say that it looks a little bit soft. I would also wait until a proper production sample is reviewed by a trusted outfit.
I actually fancy the lens if Metabones would produce an Alpha to NEX converter that would give me a true 24mm on my NEX bodies and 36mm on my A580, but not if it is not pin sharp. Needs to yield better results than my E 10-18mm after Distortion Filter treatment.

Sure! It's just like I said above - they tilt it the wrong way or they tilt it in a random way.
Otherwise, the sample would appear quite sharp across the frame if not for their perverted processing habit that they so many times insisted upon.

In case anyone hasn't seen these reviews from Lens Rentals.

http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/05/first-look-at-the-rokibowyang-24mm-f3-5-tilt-shift-lens-part-1

http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/05/first-look-rokinon-24mm-f3-5-tilt-shift-part-2

A lot more information in these reviews.

I guess I'm a bit disappointed that it does not match some of Samyang's more stellar performers. I had thought that one of the points of TS was to have a large depth of field with a large aperture, and it sounds like this is not a strong point of the length. Perhaps I've got the wrong idea about TS?

I took this pic today with the Samyang 24mm Tilt/Shift:

To be compared with this taken with Voigtländer 21mm and corrected in LR:

Note how the correction cuts the corners!

I'm hoping to get one to review on the A7R shortly, though we had one for Nikon D800E and it was very soft (compared to the Schneider 28mm PC and the Canon 17mm TC-E which are the most recent lenses I've used).

From the colour shifts, or lack of, I assume you are using A7? I don't think I could get rhe VCS 21mm to give the same result.

I may be being trivial, and admit that I lack experience, but with the perspective correction options availablre from DxO, isn't this an expensive option?
