As far as I know there is only one version of the A mount 16-80 Zeiss lens.

Hi Ian, I agree with Mike. I always use this site at the start of comparing prices for kit in the UK. http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Sony ... VS-DT-Lens.

This is one of those lenses where I think some people just try it on! :)

Yup that's a good starter for prices.
When I wanted to insure my camera gear I used WEX for replacement values as their prices are not one-offs.

It is a great lens; I'm sure you will not be disappointed with the image quality.

I used mine for all my "short" images on my latest trip. Preferred it to the 28-75 on the A99 just because it had a little more range at the long end.

Might have to look at the new Tamron 28-300 for the A99 in the longer term but you couldn;t exactly describe the pairing as a travel kit! The A77 plus 16-80 is quite useable.

Yes, seems to be a great lens, just trying to figure out now, how to post some shots as the images are too big to upload. Apparently they have to be downsized to 500k :(

Depends what software you use.
I use Lightroom so I simply export the edited image using a setting of 1000 max pixel width and limit to 300kb, LR does the rest.
