I was about to sell a Minolta 70-210 f/4 MD lens because I've heard plenty of negative stuff about the MD/MA adapters due to poor optics. While browsing ebay for Minolta stuff, I came across this MD/MA adapter with out the optic. It came with the caution that the lens would be unable to focus infinity. I decided to purchase one and see what it's focus range was and see what quality the optics were. The a-mount portion seems to be slightly undersized. It mounts snuggly to the camera but has some lateral movement. Next I laid a tape measure out on the floor and figured out the working range for focus. At 70mm the range was 15" to 21" while at 210mm the range was 29" to 18'. Here's what the adapter looks like and what the lens looks like mounted on my a77ii.
Now I just need to go shoot some pictures.

Re: MD/MA adapter w/out optics
I am pretty pleased with the setup. I think it'll work nice for macro. The icing on the cake is that the lens and adapter totaled less than 60 USD. The red car was the focus point for the last two shots.

Re: MD/MA adapter w/out optics
That was my favourite MD lens. Superb.
