I'm bidding on one of these Minolta Maxxum AF 28mm f2.8 Lens on the bay. Is there anyone with info about this lens. I'm hoping it will be a nice somewhat wide angle for groups of people. any info will be appreciated.

I bought one at the end of last year. Nice enough, but not really better than 28mm on my 28-75 zoom. 28 is quite wide on full-frame, but pretty much a standard lens on APS-C (42mm equivalent?), hence the reasonable prices. I don't think it is renowned as being a stellar lens, just a steady performer. It is a nice small size to always have in the camera bag. The 24 is supposed to be better but I have had a similar experience with that as well, just a bit 'meh'.

Thanks for the info. Right now it's at 10 bucks so if I go for it I'm not going to crazy. If I can get it for around 15 to 20 bucks I may give it a try. At that price It's not a lot to risk.

Thanks again.
