Re: Mirror lens
Hi Doctor,
Amazing picture. Thanks for the link, I missed that one. I suppose I would never have the patience to deal with that lens.
Here a counter example, made with a lousy Sigma 400 f5.6 APO, cropped like h.e.l.l., little detail, but ... my mother liked it.
Cheers Jonathan

Re: Mirror lens
Ah, so its moon pictures is it?
Here is my first humble effort:
Sony a100, Sigma 70-200 f2.8 with 2xTC, f20 for 1/10th, ISO 100
On an impulse one evening last winter

Re: Mirror lens
Ok, you guys like too take fine images of the moon....how's your moon knowledge?
What's the name of the crater with the longest radial spikes?...(lower middle)
What's the name of the most reflective crater?...(upper left)
Can you point out where Apollo 11 landed and name the Mare?
Which is Nubium?
First one to get them right wins an A900......just kidding.

Ha, beat me to it I am wasting time at a Madrid airport terminal waiting for a London flight after a two day very hot conference. Good answer and as I was going to answer with someting equally frivoulous so I think we should share Greg´s prize on alternative monthsDr. Harout wrote:Just to answer your questions:

In Dr Harout's moon image, start at the center of the moon, go half-way towards the right (east) rim and then a third of the way up to the northern rim. There, near the south-western border of the Mare Tranquillitatis, the Eagle landed on July 20th, 1969, 20:17 h GMT, and thus created 'Tranquility Base' (Lat 0° 41' 56" N, Lon 23° 26' 0" E).Greg Beetham wrote:Can you point out where Apollo 11 landed and name the Mare?
That's the mare closest to Crater Tycho.Greg Beetham wrote:Which is Nubium?
Now where's my A900? I need it tomorrow morning.

Brian and I already divided the prize. You're late Olaf.
And Brian, I'm still thinking of a picture with a new outfit to reflect my new grade...

Re: Mirror lens
I could answer anything - late in 2006, Patrick Moore's agent emailed me offering one of the last 20 existing first editions prints of his 1969 Map of the Moon signed by Sir Patrick himself for £50. Needless to say, I jumped on this one, and got it framed. It is one of our larger framed pictures.
