On personal note, I am utterly shocked at the quality of the RX10 footage. It clearly surpasses the a7r and a7 not only in the image detail/moire test but matches it on the noise front and holds detail in the blacks better! Whatever Sony did to get that full-read-out of the 1″ chip on the RX10 is amazing, and I hope they find a way to implement that feature on APS-C/Super 35mm sensors in the near future!”

I would say that a fixed F2.8 lens with range 24-200mm (35mm equivalent) is probably ideal for 95% of video so contrary to what has been said about costs, this could be a handy tool for those looking for a single unit to do quality video as well as images. I must say that I was impressed by the few times I have used my RX100 for handheld video clips.

Could be of interest to video shooters, not sure it's positioned to really appeal to most stills shooters.
1" sensors nothing wrong with them said some time ago a good format size for compacts and bridge cameras. But there is no getting away from the price. In an era where the camera market is under quite a lot of pressure, I think it's quite inappropriate to charge prices like that for a smaller sensor.

Add £200 odd and you have an A7 body. I'm not ILC fan, but has to be said if you're dumping £1000 odd down might as well go the whole hog and do it properly

Yeah, I don't know nor care much about the business aspects of these huge multinational corporations. I have no idea whether the RX10 will sell well or not. I doubt if it will affect my life one way or the other.

This is a pretty good video review that also shows images in LR and sample video. One video sample is of his very cute little girl and another shows all the snow on his car there in NY. The only thing that I wished he had included is showing the speed of the electronic zoom control. Missed a good opportunity.

Kirk seems impressed with the RX10 as does DK in the latest Camera Craft. DK points out the epic size the lens would be on a full frame camera. Seems a pretty good solution for an all-in-one.

I see the RX10 is down to £850 seems the £1000 odd price tag just wasn't going to rub. (I suspect £850 isn't going to work either)

Anyway I see the X-S1 is on a blow out deal on amazon uk, now for £239 you can't argue with that, it's a nice enough camera for bigger zoom folks.
I know you can't really compare it to the RX-10, but still bigger zoom folks are just not going to pay £850 most of them won't. They will gladly pay £239 though

Still $1,300 in the U.S. It will probably come down later though.

Its a good review for a high end bridge camera and it puts it right at the top, but it looks like Sony have still not fully nailed the Jpeg issues. Price needs to be under £600 to get my interest.

I would tend to agree, another point I really like the mechanical zoom on the XS-1, I think it's far better than any electronic control I've used on bridge cameras
It was obvious to get a good review on DPR, I can see encouragement for this type of camera (most superzooms have tiny sensors and massive zoom ranges some up to 1200mm equivalent) so nice to see something a bit more restrained focal length wise.

But the price can't be overlooked, not really
I noticed some vine reviews on amazon, that means Sony are giving some away for review
