dPreview makes ACR exception for Olympus

Unread post by David Kilpatrick »

Although all the world knows that ACR is not necessarily the optimum processor for Sony files, dPreview has used it consistently all the time. I do the same personally, I know it's not always perfect but find the mix of features and functions just right for my workflow.

However, they have made a special exception for Olympus:

Using Capture 1 Pro instead.

DP Review is not the only test website that plays favorites and is anti Sony. Check the results of tests of the Sony XMOR-R cameras at Camcorder info, which was started by a teenage girl http://www.pubcon.com/bios/robin_liss.htm, who went on to study business or political science and eventually opened these sites:

CamcorderInfo.com , DigitalCameraInfo.com, TelevisionInfo.com, MediaPlayerInfo.com, PrinterInfo.com, WirelessInfo.com and HeadphoneInfo.com.

She does operate the "respected" DigitalCameraInfo.

See how the Sony camcorders, including FX-1000 and the EXMOR-R-based ones compare unfavorably in low light performance to Canon. All people, who have used these Sony's and the competing Canons know of superior low light performance by the Sonys.

Remember it well Don, and you were roundly slated/ignored/ridiculed. Looks like you might have the last laugh

Very funny. I was tossed off of DPR numerous times for saying the very same thing about ACR regarding Sony a700 files well over a year ago! I posted this very same information regarding ACR and Sony files on numerous review and test websites including DPR and IR, and I also posted it to the Adobe forums way back when.

Interesting.
I wonder why Dpreview had a change of heart?

I suspect they have not had a change of heart when the next Sony is reviewed.

I suspect you will be proven correct in your suspicion.
