Let me re-phrase that: Do I really need an a850?

Same question, lower price!

(And I think I know your answers.)

Just what might the 35/2, 50/2.8 M, 100/2 and 200/2.8 look like on a FF Sony... twitch, tremble, salivate.

when I was a Boy Scout (looooong time ago) one of the things I learn, while packing my backpack and deciding what to take for camping, was: if you hesitate about this or that, is because you won't need it. Since then, I travel light and lighter, without regret.

if you stil hesitate about buying a FF camera is probably that you don't "need" it. Then, if you can pay it, why not getting one?

Unless you are a professional, the question of "need" seems to be resting on the wrong word. Let's focus on "want". The thought of shooting the a850 with my Zeiss 85 and 135 is overpowering. I will find a way to get this camera and my journey will be complete.

Until I upgrade the walk around lens.
Until I the 500mm lens comes out.
Until... (someone save me before I do more harm).

I have been using the A700 since the day it was released in the 'States.' It has been a fantastic experience and one I want to build on.

Hmmm, I have a lot of wide-angle glass ... how can I get some more out of it? Oh yeah (rubbing chin) 8) "Full Frame." Suddenly that 14mm f/2.8 Rectilinear lens becomes .... 14mm! AGAIN!

Only a FF camera body can do that.

So my 28mm, 24mm, 20mm., 14mm and 8mm become ... operational and not a 'cropped' reduction in FOV.

There just isn't a better reason ... IMHO. :D

Yes, it is a want not a need. I agree with done about wanting to put to good use all of my nice full-frame glass on a full-frame camera. I suppose one could wait...
