Oh sooooo jealous. My A850 cost around £1800. And although I'm skint I'm desperately trying to find a wide - ish angle zoom lens for it to replace the Carl Zeiss 16-80mm which sits permanently on my A350. Anyone finding a cheap 24-70mm please let me know.

As the proud owner of an A900, I didn't feel too envious, but I could use a backup. What would I do if anything happened to the A900 while I was on a photo trip? At that price I could justify an extra Sony FF body.

I happened to be in London today, and I wondered - it was a bit of a long shot, but maybe if they had an ex-demo A850 in Glasgow, maybe they would have one in London as well, so I took myself off to New Oxford Street...

RESULT!!!

I am now the proud owner of an A850 + 28-75mm SAM for just £999, which the salesperson assured me was the very last one the Jessops chain had.

Sorry, guys....

Wes;
well done, you - enjoy it!
I now don’t feel so bad about the daylight robbery at Jessops!

Bakubo:
Alas I don’t (yet) have much of a web presence, for a number of reasons. I do have a hotchpotch of photos up on pBase: I think if you do a search for pbase and oldrenard you should arrive at the galleries I’ve made there. This is very much a work-in-progress as we have antediluvian snails-pace connection speeds in the area of Malawi where I live. Uploading anything while I am in Malawi is a real Cecil B de Mille production. I hope that will change shortly now that I can enjoy fast connections speeds here in Europe.
Most of what you will see on my pBase galleries consists of scans of slides and negatives from my venerable Minolta XD7, still going strong after 31 years, together with more recent digital output from a Minolta F100 P & S camera, then a KM 5D and finally my A700. Nothing yet from the A850 I have just acquired in the happy circumstances mentioned earlier in this thread.

Have just picked up on this. Not sure if the deal is still on but a couple of weeks ago Jessops were also offering the 70-300G at £399.
Crazy prices considering they are now selling well below ”Sony staff” price
A700 - 18-200 - 70-300G - 28F2.8 - 30M2.8
