It still is possible to change an a99 raw file EXIF data so that it's treated as an a77 raw file, and then it opens fine in Lr/ACR.

You need just to change the SonyModelID tag from '294' for '287'.

Here's a command for the exiftoolgui.exe 'exiftool direct' command to change that parameter over all a99 files from the root directory down -
