I've not tried that grip. It seems to work with plugging in to the remote socket.
Bear in mind you have no control dial so you won't be able to change aperture/shutter with the grip.
If it were £30 odd I might give it a bash, but at nearly £70 odd I think it's too expensive for a third party option.
Sony did mess up by not having a grip option on the 5/6 series models, they could easily have offered this to users.
