New Toy! WOO HOO!

Unread post by Dusty »

Well, I finally got the last optical viewfinder camera Sony has offered. Yes, I bought a used a580, and it arrived today. Since I'm busy at work I don't really have time to play with it, but I will this weekend, at my Uncle's 91st birthday party.

Happened to find a link that took me to it on evil-bay. Saw it sitting there for $400, buy now, with kit lens (no lens shade) and vertical grip. Since the others were starting auctions at that price body only, I took it. Blame it on the credit card company for recently giving me more headroom on my card!

Even though it came with the vertical grip, there is only 1 battery. Luckily I have spares, but I'm sure I'll now feel the need for a few more!

One thing I noticed was that it tend to fall asleep and takes a bit to wake up. Is there a setting to help?

I will have to read the manual, I guess!

Suggestions for settings are very welcome!

Dusty
An a700, an a550 and couple of a580s, plus even more lenses (Zeiss included!).

As near as I can tell the only difference is the 16.2mp versus the 14.2mp files and so IQ may or may not be the same. On the dpreview forums, there's been mention that the a580 is less noisy than the a560. As far as features and performance, I believe they are both identical from af modes, to continuous shooting, to movies, to media slots, etc.

The 560 seems quite rare to find, it was basically the 550 with a few mods.

560 should be the same as the 580 in most ways bar a few less pixels can't remember exactly the differences. I rarely see that model about a few 580's do turn up though
I still crave an OVF at times maybe I should buy an A850 to satisfy that need
