A77Mk2 focus settings

Unread post by mikeriach »

I don't have one but a fellow Alpha user posted this on an aviation forum.

Hope this helps owners.

Thanks Mike. Though I don't have A77MK2, the first page on the link
got me curious. In the shooting tips section, it says don't click at the
first focus lock but wait another 0.5 sec. (I am paraphrasing). I am curious
to know if that is applicable to this camera only or all other/previous models.

Probably just the A77II.

I've noticed that the GII lenses SEEM to be better able to keep up with the A77II's new AF module. The 70-400mm GII in particular is fast enough to work flawlessly with the mk2.

As for the recommended settings... well; I have tried each, but I am still trying to determine the best for various shooting situations and conditions.

Can't really help either as I also have a Mk1 A77 and 70-400G. My Mk1 G is a fantastic lens and my only complaint is that the zoom action is too stiff causing it to jump rather than glide.

I'm not investing any more in Sony until I see a real commitment to A mount. To the contrary, I am selling kit I don't use or use infrequently. 11-18 and 18-250 going next and maybe even my 70-200G and 1.4TC

Putting it in the piggy bank for future purchases of either the A99ii (with all the advantages of the A7Rii but in dedicated A mount) or my new Canikon kit. I'm not saying the other systems are perfect, in fact in many cases they are far from it but I've played with similar Nikon kit and I could happily live with that system. Not sure about Canon yet but I hope to get a loan shortly for a play.
