Don't know the story behind this one, in my local village.
A 1914 war memorial in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, near the Civic Centre
The Civic Centre itself, I've already posted a different angle of this in another thread.

This is a cattle-drive statue in Dallas, Texas. Behind me are a few dozen 1.25x life-size longhorn cattle.
I used an F56 flash gun to overpower the sunlight with enough force to expose the shadows on the statue as well as the sky. The lens used here is Juanito200's Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6. I liked the wide angle lens for this because the stretched corner features seemed to suggest action.

Mahatma Gandhi walks in Waikiki. He really likes to watch the babes in bikinis and when his feet get tired he cools his feet in the ocean.

Not in "my" city in fact, and the heading should've been "Local statues, or National staues etc...". Anyway.
Shot this one in the north-eastern part, in a village called Dsegh where this poet was born and raised.

I hope we can include statues that are in the middle of fountains in this thread
From one of our favourite picnic locations, the ruined Witley Court with its repaired fountain. I'm sure I've posted pics from here several times before.

The statue shows Perseus, riding Pegasus, rescuing Andromeda from a Sea Monster.
Here is a wider view, showing the big crowds, attracted out by the first fine holiday for ... a very long time!
