Suggested poll, 3 choices to vote..to reflect views on both areas.

I have a a350 and I like live view. It's a bit of a crutch and I find myself using it less and less. It doesn't work well for verifying focus as it doesn't have enough resolution . It is nice for verifying framing when the camera is in a position where the traditional view finder is hard to get to. For example taking puppy eye level pictures. It is also nice for verifying current settings. For example when shooting aperture priority mode with spot metering it's nice to be able to easily see what the shutter speed is without getting close to the camera.

If I wanted to take video I would get a video camera. Before the a350 I know have, I had a DSC-F717 that I selected based on availability of IkeLite housings. Although it had video capability, I don't believe I ever used it.

Hmmm, now I'm thinking "large format video camera..." V-DSLRs could be a good thing if implemented with plenty of intuitive creative control.

Between the Cnet interviewer and the Sony rep perhaps not much to be read in to this?

I spoke with the Sony rep at Adorama last week and he was the first one been disappointed with the lack of video on the new cameras. But he (they, the Sony Reps) didn't have any answer about it from the USA Headquarters.
In the USA, Canon and Nikon have about 80% of the dSRL market, with Sony been leader of the other 20% thanks to the A200/A300/A350 cameras, but how to get into the CaNikon part without offering a VdSRL model?

I know, I go to Vimeo once in a while. I posted this link because is a pro work, for those who think that video on a dSRL is a gimmik -Don, we already know what do we need...

Don, I didn't post this link because it goes to Adorama. I don't work for Adorama but Adoramapix (we are even thinking about changing the name of the photolab in order to keep some distance from the main company) and I don't do any kind of marketing for Adoramapix -my internet connection is restrained to the intranet and few other websites, all work related.

That's why I can't participated that often on this forum and, when I do, it's thanks to my cellphone (and let me say that it is a little difficult to post stuff from it). The links I post to Adorama is because it's related to the Alpha system or nice specials like the poster-size special or the Books cupon code: we have a "Dealers alert" forum for that.

I did post this link from Adorama because it is an example of what I want to do with a video-dSRL. I'm jealous of what Canon and Nikon users have and I'm telling Sony that they are wrong thinking that only a small percentage of users wants video on a dSRL -somebody from the inside told me Sony run a world wide poll that showed than little people want it, another proof of the myopia of the people taking decisions at the Sony's headquarters...

My "fight" is against those people who claim that they don't want video on a dSRL because they "don’t want to pay for a feature they won't use" (most of them don't use the green 'P'anic mode but they don't complain about "paying" for that) or because they have the wrong idea of a video-dSRL replacing a handycam -more myopic approach, like the guys at Sony...

We will get it anyway because Sony won't have another solution than bringing to the market what other makers are doing. Hopefully they will do it better than the other makers -inch'allah!
