It is true that the explosion of phone cameras with built in effects and apps is changing the world's vision of a photographic image. I find the same thing in traditional photographic club circles. Whereas five years back the sort of art effects that I produce from my photos were largely frowned upon, club judges now accept and even welcome such work. Part of this is their increased exposure to software and the realisation that to produce something good is not just a matter of pressing a button, but requires some vision and effort.

When we started this forum topic I stated that "the average photographer does not consider this aspect of imaging as being "honestly" related to photography." However, the times they are a changin',
