Anyone with Experience of the VG-20E Nex Video Camera ?

Unread post by peterottaway »

I am looking for feedback from those who are more into stills photography but have used the VG-20. I have been taking the odd short video but find using a SLT or a Nex camera to be a right royal pain. As the 20 is very similar to the about to be released 30, I wanted some user feedback.

I don't own one, but as I'm in the market for a new camcorder, I have researched the VG-series.

They look lovely, but from what I have learned they suffer from terrible anti-aliasing. The VG-20 is less prone than the VG-10, but it is still prone, unfortunately.

So I will be sticking with my FX1 until a suitable alternative is released...

Do you mean - from terrible aliasing? Inadequate anti-aliasing?

Correct, David. My mistake. TERRIBLE aliasing.

With my background in broadcast, I would notice it, and it would drive me mad. Other people wouldn't see it... did you ever spot the 'dot pattern' on black and white CRTs; cross colour; cross luminance?

Sony is missing the opportunity to steal the thunder from Canon. Just give us an interchangeable lens camera with oodles of useful buttons, full manual control, and XLR inputs. We're not asking for much.
