Does this mean I will be able to purchase this adapter, fit it to my NEX-5 and then use Alpha lenses without inbuilt motors. I understand the speed bit as it will phase detect for AF, but will this adapter also have a motor? If it does I might be interested in using it with my Sony 18-250. This is an excellent lens for my general use and for video on my A580.1) Translucent adapter
It delivers exactly the same autofocus performance as in the A33/A55
This is the kind of product I like : SLT adaptor for E mount

I think at this moment, only the rumor's guy can answer your questions...alphaomega wrote:Being a technical "novice" I need the technical people to advise me on this SR5 rumour on the new translucent adapter http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-excl ... 50mm-lens/Does this mean I will be able to purchase this adapter, fit it to my NEX-5 and then use Alpha lenses without inbuilt motors. It should work well, but the whole set-up would be imbalanced.alphaomega wrote:Being a technical "novice" I need the technical people to advise me on this SR5 rumour on the new translucent adapter http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-excl ... 50mm-lens/Does this mean I will be able to purchase this adapter, fit it to my NEX-5 and then use Alpha lenses without inbuilt motors. This adapter looks more promising than for the first glance. Adding the new external EVF you can convert your small nex camera to an SLT. It would be perfect together with a battery grip balancing the heavy adapter lens combo and would provide extra juice for the extended use.
However, for the success it should be cheaper. People will simply buy an SLT instead.

Considering the price of adaptor+viewfinder, it might make more sense to get an A33 (or even an A65) in addition to your NEX. Put a (small) wide angle lens (like the new 24/1.8 ) and a zoom (like 70-300G ) on the A33 and it would be just perfect
