I just need a Giottos or GGS hard glass for the rear screen before using my new 6. Very happy to have got the 16-50mm zoom in with the camera at £450 (inc VAT) because the 16-50mm on its own is always over £200. Not so happy about 40.5mm filters though!

Re: That tricky 6 or 7 question
I think you have a very legitimate complaint there. Someone in Sony has not been getting with the corporate program in allowing too many filter sizes to be used.
Even if something like a 46mm filter thread is not really required it would cut down on people having to buy a different filter size. It's one thing for me to have bought a set of step up rings and a set of expensive 77mm filters, but there's a lot of keen photographers who don't need the aggravation of looking like Teddy Roosevelt going on safari.

Exciting update from the NEX-6 newby!!Vidgamer wrote:Someone on DPR claimed to get a Nex-6 from BBuy for $400?! Anyway, even at $600, it's a great deal. Let us know what you think of it. I feed mine fast memory cards, and I find it pretty responsive. Yesterday, I turned off the 2sec. auto-review and I'll see if that improves the perceived response time.
I grabbed the last EA2 from the Sony Outlet Wrentham MA, $162 open box. Immediately attached my holy grail (Maxxum 200) and wow what a piece of kit. If anything focus might be a smidge quicker/better than the A700!! Wow! Excellent balance and easy to handle is a surprise.
FYI no evidence of store closing was seen, price of NEX - 6 which I bought Monday at Best Buy for $599 (kit with SEL 16-50) was still marked at $799. I did not query the staff regarding the info on SAR indicating their store was closing.
NEX 6 and EA2 is going to keep me busy for a while, I have a lot of kit to experiment with!
Other than video I doubt the 16-50 SEL will get any use based on a few quick snaps with the 50 1.7 and the 200 2.8! Back outside now to victimize my dog with a few more pics with some more lenses! He is such an easy target LOL!!
Tried a couple snaps with all the Maxxum lenses in my kit except the 100-200, 24-105D and 28-85 and all handled brilliantly and responded good. Even the Beercan balanced nicely and was a good match for the NEX-6/EA2 combo. Tried my Sony 35 1.8 as well = also nice. Tomorrow I will give my M42 gear a try.
Let's go while we're young//NEX 6,A700x2 w/vg,A100//Maxxum 100 2.8m,200 2.8,50 1.7,28 2.8,28-85,35-105,24-105D,100-200,70-210/4//Sony 35 1.8, 18-55//Sigma 400 5.6//M42: Asanuma 135 2.8,Pentax Takumar 55 2,135 3.5

I found a cheap cir. pol. for $5. That's all I need.Very happy to have got the 16-50mm zoom in with the camera at £450 (inc VAT) because the 16-50mm on its own is always over £200. Not so happy about 40.5mm filters though!

The real problem is a lack of hood. Some people order stiff ones intended for Leicas.
Re: That tricky 6 or 7 question
Fit a 40.5 > 49 stepup ring and use a clip on Minolta hood for the MD 28mm 2/2.8/3.5 - it works well.Vidgamer wrote:The real problem is a lack of hood.
