New firmware updates, and a Sigma surprise.
New firmware updates, and a Sigma surprise.
There are FW updates for some of the newer cameras. I was not going to bother updating the Nex-6, since it's mostly to update the PDAF for the new Sony lenses, but someone posted that there's an interesting side effect -- PDAF is now supported on the Sigma 30mm lens! Someone else posted that their Tamron now works. Anyway, I can confirm that the PDAF grid now appears when my Sigma 30 is attached, but the 16-50 is still faster-focusing. Go figure.
Re: New firmware updates, and a Sigma surprise.
Thanks for the tip Vidgamer. I also wasn't thinking of bothering with the new firmware for my Nex 6. I definitely will now. I love the Sigma 30 on the Nex 6. What a bargain lens that is
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

The Sigma 30 is still slow, even with the FW update, although it may be better. The 16-50 feels like it could possibly even be faster.
