Eye-AF on A7R and A6000

Unread post by artHarris »

There is a lot of conflicting information out there about the use of Eye-AF on the A7R and other cameras.
Some say it won't work unless face-recognition is selected, others deny this. I know that face recognition works only with the human face; animals don't have the right kind of face for the software to work.
But I am going on a safari soon and want to know if Eye-AF will work with animal eyes; if face-recognition isn't important, as some claim, then it might.

Anybody out there with reale experience that can help me?

I have both the A7R and an A6000 and my Minolta 100-300 zoom will need the use of the LA-EA4 adapter. My other tele option is the Sony 18-200 Zoom, probably best suited to the A6000.
Kit: all Sony now:
RX-100/3, A6000, A7R. Lenses:FE16-35, FE24-70, SonyF10-18,SonyF18-200, FE35/f2.8, F16/2.8, Minolta APO 100-300, Nikon 135 macro, Nikon 50/1.4, various extras.
