Looking for some way to write IPTC data to a900 arw files. At present I converted to DNG and then add the IPTC data, proceesing is then done in Raw Therapee.

You cannot write anything to ARW files. Instead, you either convert to DNG or you have to use XMP sidecar files. A program that can create XMP sidecar files (besides Adobe products) is Phil Harvey's ExifTool.
