Custom White Balance

Unread post by dynacam »

Trying out setting my a900 using Custom WB rather than the normal "daylight" etc, metered off a white card and got a reading of 6300K G1 and proceed to take some photos. When these photos where loaded into Lightroom v3.2 the WB shows up as 5600K with a tint of -7 ?? , Daylight is 5500K in lightroom so is there any point is using custom WB ??
Thanks for your help

WB Kelvin interpretation varies across different systems greatly. Furthermore, it depends on the calibration profile used in Lr.

Anyway, the colour representation in all systems is very approximative. It's quite approximative in human perception too. So just use whatever looks better to you and your 'audience'.
