I don't know if I have forget it ... or if it is there only since some new version of Lightroom ... , but today before switching of catalog, lightroom told me that it is a long time since I haven't optimized my catalog and it found that my last usage was slow ... , so I only had to click "OK" and this took about ~2minutes.
Result : My Monster PC is now showing that lightroom can be fast dealing with catalog (.lrcat) of more that 1 gig of size (only data, no preview or images embedded).
So, for those how found that it is slow to get preview or zoom in some of you catalog, I strongly recommend that you just click on File\Optimize Catalog... (I don't know why they have put the "..." at the end).
Regards,
Frank
