I took the advise of JB and input from you. Watched Youtube on taking photos and post processing. I took the liberty of using your photo to experiment in LR. I sincerely apologize if I took undue liberty in experimenting with your photo without your prior consent. Please let me know and I will remove the post. My intent is only to demonstrate what I learned.

The water is a very shallow "dead" lake. That is, it doesn't have any way for the water to leave. It is a salt lake or rather a borax lake. However, they are not biologically dead, as the flamingos are always wading across it and eating something that grows there. These types of lakes are very common in this part of the mountains.
