Venice, Italy

Unread post by sury »

Our flight back to San Francisco was from Venice. We had couple of days at the end of the trip to stay in Venice.
Visited Murano and San Giorgio Maggiore. A fantastic place to view Venice and St. Mark's Plaza from afar.

Venice glass is a rightfully famous delicate art piece for many centuries. I love what they can create with this particular glass.
Glad you took some time to see them in their workshop too.

Hi, Sury; :)

Just look at that fine crystalline horse! How lovely and fragile, like magical. I'm sure it would find its true place in a home full of light and help spill refractions of light on the many surfaces of the space. :D

Venetian glass is thankfully still around and will grace many places as it prevails.

Sury! I will write what I think of all the pictures published from your trip to Italy. This is not very correct on my part, but still ...
Yes, the first pictures were ok, but somehow they did not convey that it was Italy, now it is a completely different matter. The latest photos carry information about the country and look with interest. Very big difference. Good work and filmed way differently. Congratulations, very nice photos.
Everything in the life unusual!

Yildiz,
Thank you.
Valery, thank you for your comments. I appreciate you taking time to let me know.
An astute observation. It certainly gave me food for thought. I need to learn to focus
on people as much as the places. Something that does not come naturally to me, being
an introvert and being sensitive to privacy.
Thank you for caring enough to let me know how you felt. It meant a lot to me.

With best regards,
Sury

We stopped on the way at San Giorgio Maggiore. Beautiful Church and a convent. But the views from the tower are fantastic.
One sees St. Marks Plaza from without and the Venice skyline too.

Hi, Sury;

The pano is a typical Venice postcard with all Venetian landmarks lined against the water. Amazing that Venice in Italy, successfully remains as one of the most authentic and photogenic places on Earth. It's lovely and imbued in Renaissance's enlightenment history.

The interiors are self-explanatory. :) Brilliant structures and statues…

The views from the tower (worth every cent, the extra 20 Euros paid. Don't have to climb the stairs. They have elevator).
are even more dramatic. It was like a child in a Panorama candy store. :D

Hi, Sury;

Indeed great panos that are testimonies that Venice is a city surrounded by and on top of sea water. :) We can see the stretch of sea beyond where the buildings end and water begins yet again.
Yet an other brilliant interior of a church and a spectacular pipe organ. I wonder how it sounds when played by someone who knows and the sound fills the entire space. :)

Wow! I love that labyrinth. :) A place for deep healing and contemplation for the monks, I suppose. But the formal disipline and properness of the gardening is astounding.
The glass bricks stacked to form a serpentine form is also interesting. All about relaxing and training the mind on focusing internally while isolated from any outside world. :) Even looking at these shapes from a photo frame relaxes my mind.

Good observation, Sury. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Yildiz.

This is the view of the bridge seen from the sigh of bridges location. The prison from Doge's palace crosses a walkway across the water. There is a window from which one gets to see a bridge and sigh because it is the last sight of freedom.

There was a museum attached to the Church.

I like the 'Sigh of Bridges' and 'Sight of Bridges' correlation in the context of losing one's freedom to imprisonment. And the bridges of Venice are always lovely. :)

Interesting art pieces too, in the land of the colourful Venetian Glass art. :)

Thanks for sharing, Sury. Finding good vantage points for interesting photo shots apparently cost you a lot but sure looks worthy for keepers.
