Hello all, has anyone got any recommendations for a portable studio kit for use with either a700 or a900. Any information, including rough idea of cost, would be greatly appreciated. To be used for at home portraits and maybe even pets.

Your Budget?

£300 to £600 approx. Myself and a friend are about to embark on a portraiture course where hopefully it will give us both a better insight into lighting techniques etc. It may be that we will want to move to more expensive kit in the future.

Ah! in the UK...
I don't really know alternatives to the big brands (Multiblitz, Bowens, Elinchrom...) over there... i use Photogenic Studiomax Pro and StudioMax III AC/DC monolights. They are not that expensive and the System is affordable too -remember two things: buying cheap is fake economy and, when you buy equipment, you are buying into a system, and while the head is probably not expensive (no more than other brands) the accessories are usually overpriced.

Thanks Pako, yes you are right theres no point in doing half a job with inferior equipment. I will look into some of the brands you recommend. I'm not sure if alienbees are exporting outside the U.S. at the moment but will continue to look around for some worthy kit. Many thanks.
