Would just like to have a reference of the size compared to say the kit lens. From my estimation it would only be around 1cm longer than the kit lens in unextended position? Thanks!

I just received it tonight, so I have not interesting picture to show, but for what I have done so fare, this lens looks really good on the camera. Even at F1.8. I have bought it after the confirm news of the NEX supporting auto focus with this lens in video.
Probably just in the weekend I will have interesting picture to show with the lens.
Regards,
Frank

Tonight I will do some pictures for you . For the moment, talking about picture of the NEX with a lens on it, this is so far the best fit to my taste: But ... probably the auto focus possibility of the 50mm 1.8 will put a little bit aside the old 58mm 1.2 for my girlfriend usage. Regards, Frank

I would like to welcome you to the forum Rurouni76. I'm pretty sure you will find a lot of answer to your question there. Hopping there will not have to much noise like I'm creating some time in the forum . Regards, Frank

So Picture of the 50mm 1.8 DT on the NEX camera : And two picture taken at F1.8 without flash (that is one main reason to use it instead of the 18-55mm kit lens, but at the end it cost more than the kit lens with the adapter) : Other image from yesterday night: http://www.pbase.com/nadeauf/sony_nex5_50mm_18_dtRegards, Frank

Thanks for posting these samples Frank, though the sandwich is making me feel hungry! I'm tossing up between a NEX-5 and one of the new SLT cameras at the moment.

Merci Frank - Looks just like a tad longer and thicker than the 18-55 kit!

Just to be sure: The old MC/MD lenses do all have aperture control rings on the lens, no?
Edit: Btw, has anyone tried the MD24/2.8 or one of the 50mm on the NEX?

Thanks for sharing the pics Frank, nice shots!
I got the adapter and the 35/1.8 lens that was just released. Having some problem with a slight amount of lithium grease found on the new adapter at the moment (in my other post in this forum) but I can't wait to get the 35/1.8 on my NEX5! It would make a nice approximate 52.5mm/2.8 lens on the NEX (35mm equiv)

Update: There is no way back now - I just ordered a MD-NEX adaptor from i-source (Hong-Kong), now I need to find a lens. It's exciting!! Dunno if I like the MF or not, but i feel like an adventure is starting
