Hi all,

The vertical grip for my A700 seems to have developed an issue with its shutter release button. I can half-press to focus but the shutter does not fire on a full press (or does so extremely intermittently). I've removed and reattached the grip, removed batteries and done a full camera reset, to no avail.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Spray some contact cleaner into the shutter button. I do not have a 700 grip only various others but this approach usually works, and if it does not, the grip needs repair (dismantle, clean, adjust).

Thanks David.

I've been meaning to try Contact Cleaner on my A700's scroll wheel as well. Hopefully I will kill two birds with one stone...

Cheers!

Just don't overdo it. A tiny squirt, or put a tissue between the squirt nozzle and the gap you are aiming at, so the spray is limited.

Well, the Contact Cleaner appears to have worked wonders on the touchy thumb wheel but no luck with the shutter release on the VG.

In a fit of frustration I thumped the base of the VG a couple of times by the shutter button. Miracle of miracles, this actually worked. I can only assume this dislodged some stubborn debris the spray couldn't reach.
