Some great bird pictures. Bruce, the pelican is brilliant . Frank, I like the goose flapping his/her wings as well.

I built a cage for the dwarf fig while it was still ok, too keep possoms and flying foxes etc. at bay. But these guys might have uncovered a small technical hitch.

Thanks Mark, I did get curious about how they got in to my inpenetrable vault, so I watched too see if they could get out. One flew up after not long and head butted the overhead mesh net and landed on the cross brace that went from corner to corner, then it walked towards one of the corners on top of that beam, bulging up the net as it went. It then walked out through a small gap in the mesh next to the corner post where it protuded up above the level of the side beams, the mesh had lost a bit of tension from the weather, sun, rain etc.
So who said Doves are dumb, I sure didn't think they were that smart, not only did it find a way in, it figured out a way of doing it in reverse.

I especially like the 2nd shot: nice colors! Nice flow between the branche in the foreground, the shadowline behind it and the sun behind the trees!

Greg: another good example that you can't always judge the book by it's cover Although doves may look a little sluggish, they certainly aren't, although the headbutting of the fence seems more like a kamikaze than a well thought off action

Oh, sorry Mark I didn't explain that very well, the top of the enclosure is just net, it's soft mesh like a very light fishing net, not wire like the sides, they use it here to stop birds and flying foxes attacking fruit orchids.

That's ice floating in that birdbath, hope he just wants a drink!

The pelican is good, but it's nose and butt are cut off and that kills it for me.

That's a pretty finch donwae12, I bet he wasn't going to do what some small Honeyeaters were doing here this arv, diving down into the birdbath and splashing and zooming back up again.

Nice photo, shame that the bird in the background wasn't on the same branch so you had both as sharp as the first one. Did you use a flash by any chance? Lighting looks a bit like that.
