Greetings everyone,

I finally got around to looking in the picture galleries here and there is lots to see.
I wanted to start by posting a link to a gallery that contains the pictures I had printed and framed for an exhibit at the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, WI USA.
They are all pictures from the waters of Lake Michigan. I Hope you enjoy them and would like to hear your thoughts.

Hi Dennis, very interesting gallery and great pictures. Some great perspectives. The water seems to be amazingly clear. It is not until you see the divers in the pictures that you realise the scale involved. Thanks for sharing.

Dennis, these are wonderful - I can not believe the clarity and colour at over 100ft - we always have thought of the Great Lakes as probably polluted but in fact they are much clearer than any Scottish loch would be (go down a few feet and the water often becomes deep peat-brown-red).

Back around 1993 we set up a project to do a book called 'The Waters of Scotland' with our friend Lawson Wood FBIPP FRPS who was/is one of the best dive photographers around. We had already done the layout and editing for his book 'Undersea Britain' . The idea was to dive into river pools, lochs, harbours, inshore, canals, old mine working cave dives - everywhere - and also to use external landscape images. Lawson decided to sell up his holiday park and hotel business, and went to the Cayman Islands where I believe he still owns or runs a dive school - gave up on the cold water stuff!

Since then, I have seen an 'Underwater USA' book produced but I do not remember the images being as good as yours.

I am humming 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' in my head now but unfortunately (maybe fortunately for others) I only know the first two verses :-)

David

Simply amazing. I love the compositions, and of course the colors and scenery are dazzling.

Thanks for looking and the comments, everyone.

Dave, your friend has a good idea. I wish I could move to the Caribbean.
As to the clear water. I try to get in as soon as the ice recedes to get the cleanest shots of the year.
I've switched from a Sony 11-18 to a Sigma 10/2.8 Fisheye and am anxious to see what I can do this diving season.

Cheers,
