Yes it is the G - I didn't include the lenshood in the photo - please don't start the rumour that it's not a G, I've already had an ebay enquiry from someone telling me they can buy it new for under my starting price and did I mean £50? Philip

Great Lens, but I haven't used it for two years - Siggy 12-24 and CZ 24-70 take care of my wideangle to portrait needs!

For a very short while I owned both the f2.8-4 and the f3.5 G at the same time (I got the former when a shop was closing down for a very good price) and comparing them the 2.8-4 wasn't far behind the 3.5 in terms of optical quality, but as you'd expect, it was at the edges where the difference was most noticable.
