Saturday afternoon saw further beautiful weather here in Worcestershire and a break in the weekend schedule got me out to the woods in the late afternoon; a time of day that I have rarely used in the local woods here. It was nice to see some spots that I had been disappointed with in dawn light transformed at the other end of the day. The light continued to be kind even after the sun had set and I was glad that I didn't set off for home as soon as the last direct rays had departed. Must remember a torch next time to get out of the wood in the dark . Tiddesley - Oak Canopy by Birm, on Flickr Inspired by some of the pictures in the Autumn challenge thread. Nex 5 with Tamron 11-18. Tiddesley - Oak Leaves by Birm, on Flickr Nex 5 with Tamron 60/2 Macro.

Tiddesley - Teasels Sunset 2 by Birm, on Flickr I love Teasels so a whole field of them kept me entertained for some time! Tiddesley - Sunset by Birm, on Flickr Both using Nex 5 with Tamron 17-50/2.8 (completing a Tamron hat-trick for the afternoon .)

Tiddesley - Edge of the Wood by Birm, on Flickr The bit where wood becomes meadow was where I spent most of my time. Tiddesley - After The Day by Birm, on Flickr The sky continued to hold my interest well after sunset. Both Nex 5 with Tamron 17-50/2.8.

Birma, I see your NEX-5 becoming your principal tool, if not the sole one. Awesome shots and greatly captured.

Wow Birma that looks like a big days outing, lovely work. I like the Teasels shot especially and the slope of the land in the wood/meadow shot also, and the sunset one with the stark trees and the interesting clouds is an attractive composure. Greg

Me? I loved the first one. What a gorgeously shaped tree to start the meadow after the woods. It does make the transition very photogenic. Thanks for sharing, Birma. Yildiz

Thanks Doc, Greg, Yildiz and Cosmonaut . Doc, for tripod work I really like the Nex's MF Assist, peaking, live view, and tilting LCD. At the moment I don't feel I want to go back to the A700's OVF. I should give the A700 another try out, but I'm starting to think about trading it in with the Nex 5 for a Nex 7.

I understand what you feel. I join you in praising the MF assist, focus peaking. Old lenses are reviving with the a77.

Thank you Anne - the trees do make beautiful shapes when they have lost their leaves.
