Thanks Birma, they don’t seem to do any deposits on the truck (around the corner) so far at least. What I’d like to do is try and get a photo of the Peewee that has fallen in love with the ‘other’ Peewee in the wing mirror, it spends quite a bit of time flitting around, on, behind and on top of that mirror, then when it can’t actually find that Peewee it flits across the roof to the other side wing mirror and does the same thing all over again with the ‘other-other’ Peewee….crazy bird. Greg Ps I have another shot taken at the same time of the rest of the Pigeons sitting in the tree in front of the row of Pigeons on the gutter, see how many Pigeons you can discover in the photo, I think I counted 16. Very nice sunset Birma, great looking sky.
You have pigeons up the ying yang Greg. You must be feeding them really well? Some really nice shots from around your property. Thanks for sharing, & hope you manage to capture that Peewee. ;^)

Hi DA long time no see, I never had Pigeons hanging around while there was plenty of tree canopy, they never saw me feeding the small birds for maybe forty years until one day some of the trees had a misfortune, two misfortunes actually, and that’s when they finally saw the small birds feeding one fine day not all that long ago. I might have to get a Falcon, if I can find one that just likes Pigeons for dinner. Greg

That's a lot of pigeons Greg.. That can sure make for one cr*ppy day! I hope that isn't near you car! Here are a couple from this morning. I didn't have time to go out to get some proper shots, these are just taken from my back door...

Mostly sunny here today, if a bit on the chilly side; around 5 or 6 degrees. Ideal weather for a trip out and some fresh air. A couple of shots from this afternoon's walk. Firstly, before the sun went down, and then after it went behind the hills, signalling time to go home. 2012 Knapp - January Meadow by Birm, on Flickr 2012 Knapp - Late Afternoon by Birm, on Flickr Both Sony Nex with SEL 16mm

As always very enjoyable scenes Birma, I love that interesting rise in the land half hidden in the tree line in the first, I always have to go over and investigate when I spot one of those. Looks like you could score very well from that meadow in the last scene if you needed a bit of fertilizer for the garden, interesting contours in that one too. Greg Ps where is our girlfriend?

Thanks Greg and DA . I think you'd like exploring this reserve Greg. There are lots of interesting nooks and crannies to investigate. Tilly was exploring with me on that particular day of course. I'll have to look out a picture that I took of her. She was just a tiny bit bored of Snowdrops by the end of the walk . The 'fertiliser' that you see in the second is actually mole hills. They have been quite busy in this field. Not sure if there is an Australian equivalent?

Istanbul is snowy since early yesterday morning. -4 Celcius degrees at the moment. Not much is visible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Love your latest shots Greg and Birma. Greg, the photo of the pigeons all lined up and the number of them is outstanding. It does have a resemblence to a rather bored line of privates in uniforms waiting for the next command from you but it also is one step short of becoming a scene from a new version 'Birds' movie. : ) I would be very suspicious of them if it was anywhere close to my home. John; : )) Those are incredible cloud and colour patterns. Lovely timing... Thanks for sharing. Birma; You have some nice warm-light landscapes yet again. Pretty amazing considering the season we're in. Looking forward to your shots with a bored Tilly. : )) (I might have got the threadsconfused. Was it in the Birds thread that you saw some nooks and other birds? I 'll check. ) Thanks for sharing, Yildiz ..

Thanks Yildiz, I didn’t think the Pigeon row shot was all that wonderful, it was just one of those spur of the moment shots, i.e. ‘something’ instead of nothing, the light level was truly horrible, about EV2.5 I think, hence the very poor DOF in both shots. Greg

Not overly exciting there at the moment jcoffin by the looks, the poor old tree looks very stark. I see on the news there has been 35°C below in the Ukraine with 60 dead and huge snow falls right across into Turkey and also in Yugoslavia…..but not much snow in the UK so far? Greg Townsville is humid and wet at the moment.
Ps No mole hills in OZ that I have heard of Birma, but I have seen paddocks here that look similar to that one with the molehills but from another source. There are some critters that dig holes in the ground, like Wombats (and the Rabbit), but I’ve never seen a Wombat excavation, that I can remember anyway, I’m fairly sure they don’t build little hills at least. The Bandicoot does dig small holes looking for grubs or beetles and I have seen those, but the odd hole and pile of dirt in the lawn are usually smallish.
