http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/p ... x-k01A.HTMI suppose this is what happens when you pay (probably quite a lot of money) to a so called cutting edge designer such as Marc Newson. Maybe he does nice stuff in other areas, but for camera design this is something else! Style over substance In fact I think it looks so damn ugly/awful it's a sure fire sales flop from day one (even excluding the fisher price/lego colours!) the design looks poor as well. The fact it has no VF at all and no swivel LCD is the final nail in the coffin. Boy if this is what Ricoh merged with Pentax come up with I think my strategic move away from K mount was well timed As for Mr Newson he's living proof that you can have no talent yet earn good money, there is hope for us all

I finally got today my NEX7 -what a beautiful and Sexy camera. Definitely and object of desire. and it looks even better after looking at the Pentax announcement. I can not understand how Pentax could validate a model like this... pakodominguez wrote: looks like a yellow cab

At first glance it looks like another Pentax mystery package. Why on earth did they not design it with a removable spacer/adaptor for adapting lenses from other makers? As it stands it can only use existing K-mount PDAF lenses and the camera can’t do PDAF only CDAF or MF with peaking on the fixed rear screen and no EVF despite having a VF hump making it almost as big as a regular small DSLR….hmmm way to go Pentax, should be a smash hit with those who don’t want to bother with DSLR features like fast accurate focussing, identified focus and exposure points, and a better all round user interface. I guess if a survivor of an air crash had the yellow one at least they would be found fairly quickly as you could probably spot that one from orbit. Greg

Congrats Pako. If I manage to sell my a700 (quite hard here cause it's not a C***n) I am seriously thinking of getting one, for serious street and travel photos (though I don't travel much. Who has the abilities of DK or Henry? )

Very odd approach from Pentax - makes the Q series seem sensible . Congratulations on the new camera and lens combination Pako . Hope we can see some samples?

Yes, the NEX 7 looks really nice and I would like to have one. I had a chance to see one here in Japan a few days ago. It was finally released here on 1/29 and coincidentally I was in a big electronics store that day and saw it. I had seen photos of it and read about it for some time already so mostly it was just as I expected: nice! I played with it for about 10 minutes and there was only one surprise. I was surprised how cramped the space between the hand grip and the lens is. I have normal size hands, certainly not big, and my fingers barely fit in that space while holding the camera. I found that when zooming (it had the 18-55mm kit lens attached) that the fingers of my right hand were interfering with turning the zoom ring with my left hand. I could turn it a bit, then reposition my fingers on the ring, and turn it a bit more. Slowed things down. I suppose after using it awhile though one would become used to it and find a new way to work with it that didn't result in interference. The menus were all in Japanese (can't change the language for Sony cameras sold in Japan), but I poked around awhile. It would take a bit of getting used to using the user interface since it is quite different than the A700 and A100. They had a Sony rep at the store and when I was walking towards the camera area she had the NEX 7 in her hand and was wiping fingerprints off with a cloth. I looked at a Panasonic camera while she had the NEX 7 and after she was finished I walked over and played with it. Initially I thought the camera was turned off because when I looked through the EVF it was black. I checked and the switch was turned on so then I looked through the EVF again and moved the camera around. I then noticed a very dim view of some florescent light tubes on the ceiling. I then realized that the camera was set to M mode, ISO 100, 1/2000, and f11. It is good to know that the Sony reps know the best way to have the camera set so potential customers will immediately like it. I poked around and was able to set it to A mode and then adjusted the aperture. The EVF, as expected, was quite nice in the store. I guess the same as the A77 that I had looked at there in December. With the horrible dollar/yen exchange rate the price in Japan when converted to dollars is very expensive. Dr. Harout wrote: Congrats Pako. After looking at this Pentax I would run screaming from the shop and happily buy a NEX over that! Very strange move I can't help but think it's going to be an object of mockery, even most Pentax fans seem to hate it.
