I like the 'Phloral' view Sury - I think I spotted some Californian poppies :)

Nice shots Doc - very nice detail and I like the Dandelion seed heads in the background in the first one.

I always like to see wild flowers and those are great Sury. The poppies amongst the grass are especially nice :)

Regarding shooting narow and the quality of bokeh, below is my first effort to demonstrate what I mean. I think I got the narow part right. Will try some outdoor shots later today. Look for more posts, including more still life efforts.
a900 and 135mm 1.8.

Nice one JB. Only "dark" spot is the bright spot at the bottom of that flower vase. That is very distracting to me.

Sury

Here is one taken with a MD mount Tamron 80-200 f2.8 that was gathering dust. Using a MD/MA glass adapter,
hand held. Natural light, f4, shutter 1/2000. No post processing...

Hi JBTaylor, : )

Lovely narrowness and bokeh in both shots. Keeping to a certain degree of defocusing gives a good idea of what's in the background without distracting the in-focus-subject's presence.

These attempts are some neat colourful attempts in comparison to yor general attempts in photography. I like it.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sury, : )

Neat focusing and thus getting some great details there.
That blossom reminds me of a type of Hibiscus but then I may be wrong. Very interesting leaves too.

Lots of CA in the cropped area though. Must be the Tamron lens.

Thanks for sharing,

Yildiz

JB,
I love the second one. The Red rose is just coming out of the screen towards me. I almost reached for it. :)

Sury

Yildiz,
Thank you. The CA in the crop you are referring to is the edges of the flower and the branches right? I thought
CA is usually some sort of color fringing (typically purple or blue). I would appreciate a bit of explanation
as I have no idea what to even look for, when we talk about CA or lens diffraction. I thought the lens is too
sharp for its own good  Appreciate any insight.

With best regards,
Sury

More nice shots JB - a very etheral effect from the oof areas.

Nice challenge Mark - as flowers are one of my favourite subjects I'm going to really have to get my thinking cap on to come up with a completely new way of picturing them - a good challenge indeed :) !

Hi Sury, : )

Regarding CA, Chromatic Aberration, you're right. It's that purple-blue fringing that we see in the close-up shot of your flower. It probably is due to the lens since I found out that my Tamron 90 mm can produce too when the light is at some odd angles.

Some photo-editting software can clean that up completely. Latest versions of Photoshop is one of them.

Hi JBTaylor;

Lovely blossoms that appear as though bursting out of the photo frame with those bouncing vivid colours and and selected narrow in-focus area.

Thanks for sharing,

Yildiz
