Interesting perspective Birma I like the second one especially, great exposure control. You can use a tripod as a bipod too sometimes (if the flowers are at a convenient height) and use it too rock back on forth with the head not locked up but set at just the right amount of friction, which makes life quite a bit easier as well. I suppose if the flowers are low down one could use a large tripod at full height and use a bit of cord to suspend the camera below it pendulum fashion, I’ve not tried that one myself though so I don’t know how useful that is. Some cheap small digicam tripods with an adjustable central pole allow their heads mounted both in the above and below positions. E.g. - Manfrotto 785. And that upside down mounting is quite OK for a small DSLR as the mass centre is then much lower.

Hi Agorabasta, there sure is some good stuff in tripods nowdays, I see Manfrotto make a carbon fibre version of my 055 now that’s actually l/3 lighter in weight and stiffer at the same time, but about three times the price. I don’t think I could get the hang of using a camera upside-down very easily, a bit of a learning curve there I’d imagine, but probably not unmanageable with a camera that has LV. In any case the main problem is more the control of fine incremental fore and aft movements at a preset focus position and freedom of being able to adjust focus plane positioning (tilt left/right and forward/back) at the same time…and have the whole process supported on some kind of steading device that allows that freedom of movement. Also the ability to move the entire assembly to a different angle of approach and inclination rapidly would be good…sort of like a three or four foot long flexible fluid arm with friction control. I know what would be ideal but I don’t think there is such a thing for photography. The thing I’m thinking of is the flexible support for dial gauges http://www.uktools.com/sealey-ak959-fle ... -4589.html (I’ve got one for my mill), that design has a magnetic base of course but the photographic model would have a flange with a Fem 3/8 NC thread instead for mounting on to a tripod horizontal column, also the whole flex assembly would have to be scaled up, lengthened and have a very good friction control (wheel or dial) instead of a lock lever. It would also have to have a limited travel friction control ball with QR plate at the camera end. If you know of such a thing I’ll take one for maybe a couple hundred clams. Greg

Hi Kaissiom - welcome to the forum from me as well - great effect with the lemons in the lemon tree Nice lilies Jbtaylor - lovely colours. I'm used to seeing those as cut flowers - it must be great to have them growing in the garden. Compliments to your wife for growing such great blooms .

Sorry for the long time to answer about the lens ( tamron 90 2,8 ) i think i have decided to keep it after all, i have until next week to think about it... ( i had some issues with CA ) but thats only in some rare shoots ( extrem small things and very close. otherwise i really like it auto focus is fast and accurate ( for the most time ), so far i only have taken a few handheld shoots in windy conditions and the look ok think it will do really well with a tripod/monopod setup.... handheld and not cropped at all original size 6000*4000 Attachment:
