Thanks Greg, gio67 and Henry .
Greg - I hope I haven't over-cooked the files - it may be my laptop screen is fooling me. The causeway is definitely a tide-table job. Here is handy site for anyone planning the walk http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast_and_ ... bles/7/345 . The white patches are shell sand. Can be very photogenic on a sunny day when seen through the shallow water in a bay.

Very wet yesterday, bur we got wrapped up and ventured out despite the weather. A couple of shots from one of our favourite spots. Both with Nex 5 and SEL 16.

We went out on the boat today and so there are a lot more shots to process. It is Halloween so there will be plenty of pumpkin activity tonight to distract me from the computer .

The singer Donovan once owned this island (1960s), but the commune didn't survive past the first winter.

Wow! I didn't know he made that much money off of Mellow Yellow, or did he have another hit also?Birma wrote: The singer Donovan once owned this island (1960s), but the commune didn't survive past the first winter.

An a700, an a550 and couple of a580s, plus even more lenses (Zeiss included!).
Re: Autumn on the Isle of Skye
I don't know Dusty. He's not made it in to my record collection yet . I suspect property here was cheaper then as well. We've stayed in the house he used to own on Skye which is now a holiday let. It's in a great loch- side location but quite basic.

Slowly getting through the back-log of shots. Here are some from Friday morning. It had been a chilly night with snow lying on the high ground. A morning of sunshine and showers provided some dramatic skies. Perfect for a quick stroll from the in-law's house with the camera and tripod, before returning for a hearty breakfast of fresh eggs, toast and coffee. It doesn't get any better than that for me !
A re-take of an earlier shot following JB's advice on a portrait style.

Secondly a wider angle.
Skye Autumn 2012 - Morning MacLeod's Tables 9 by Birm, on Flickr
Both from Nex 5 with CZ 16-80 on LA EA2 adapter.

So I'm not the only one re-reviewing my images or letting them pile up so that I have a lot to go throughBirma wrote:Slowly getting through the back-log of shots.
Both images are great as usual from you Andy. The first thing I noticed was that Godzillian dustbunny in the second frame I later noticed the nice lighting and view too

Oops - not sure how that got past QC! I really hadn't noticed it. (Having a h/w crisis today and so will try and fix later.mvanrheenen wrote:The first thing I noticed was that Godzillian dustbunny in the second frame I later noticed the nice lighting and view too

Re: Autumn on the Isle of Skye
I just had a chance to go through the latest news and pix from the Ile of Skye, all very enjoyable Birma, lots of different moods and ‘frozen’ moments.
I’m impressed with the topology there it shows much evidence of former glaciation, the scraping, gouging and scalloping of hills and valleys by very large glaciers, awesome. I have a small complaint though, you know I like boats and I didn’t see a photo of the boat in the boating trip.

Birma
Skye Autumn 2012 - Glen Brittle Beach is my favourite.
If your troop is anything like mine, you were getting nagged about taking too long to take a damn photo.
Re the processing, it's my belief that it is the quality of the light. Many have never been, and have not seen the autumn light in the far north. I am a lucky one.
The light this morning was just amazing but unfortunately I had to work!
