Saturday we went to the natsu matsuri in Yoshida and then on Sunday we went to the Doronko Matsuri (Mud Festival) in Shirakawa-cho, an even smaller town. Both were great fun! Photos are in the Japan gallery:

Very interesting. Given (my assumption) that Japanese are very much neatness minded, this is just
the kind of break you need, I guess.

These days it is hot and humid in Japan so wallowing in muddy water sounds not half bad.sury wrote:Good one Henry.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'neat'..
Love the shot of the gent falling into the mud. I love to see that such traditions are still practiced..

I gather that this must be the beginning of the rice planting season. Brings back memories.

Nice shots, Henry and liked the website. One possible extra to both the website and this thread..... What camera were you using?

Thanks! I used my Olympus E-M5 for the photos in this thread. As for the rest of the photos on the website they are mostly digital from the following cameras that I have or have had since 2000:Cogito wrote:Nice shots, Henry and liked the website. One possible extra to both the website and this thread..... What camera were you using?
2002 Minolta D7i 5mp
2003 Canon Digital Rebel (300D) DSLR 6.3mp
2005 Konica Minolta 7D DSLR 6.1mp
2006 Canon 30D DSLR 8.2mp
2007 Sony A100 DSLR 10.2mp
2008 Sony A700 DSLR 12.2mp
2010 Pentax K-7 DSLR 14.6mp
2010 Canon 60D DSLR 18.1mp
2012 Panasonic G3 ILC 16mp
2012 Olympus E-M5 ILC 16mp
digicams:
2000 Olympus D-340R 1.3mp
2001 Olympus D-510Z 2.1mp
2004 Canon A70 3.2mp
2006 Canon A540 6mp
2008 Canon A590IS 8mp
2012 Canon S95 10mp
2013 Canon G15 12.1mp
I fired up LR and I see that the largest number of photos are from A-mount cameras (A700, A100, KM 7D) and next is from Canon (60D, 30D, 300D) and next is m4/3 (E-M5, Panasonic G3). I am not counting all the digicams. My website, of course, only has a small percentage of my photos, but probably the proportions are similar.
There are also some film scans from photos I took before digital. For example, these are all film scans:

Re: Shirakawa-cho Doronko Matsuri
One interesting note about my experience with the above cameras. I sold the D7i, 300D, 30D, and 60D when I no longer wanted them. The K-7 I just had for a couple of weeks and then returned it since I wasn't satisfied with it above ISO 800. None of my A-mount cameras were really sellable so I am stuck with them. I lucked out and although my 7D was defective (I had 2 and both were defective) Sony gave me a full refund on it after it had been sent in 5 times to try to get it fixed. The A700 and A100 have defects also so they just sit unused and unsold.bakubo wrote: 2002 Minolta D7i 5mp
