Anyone in the UK will tell you that our main summer public holiday in England unfortunately all too often looks like this. So it was this year! Taken from our holiday cottage in Cornwall. (We had nice weather as well :) .)

That's a creative take with a landscape. I love it, because it convoys the feeling of the weather and light, even if it's taken from inside. I would edit the handle out of it though, too standard/modern to fit in this picture. But like I said, a creative take and successful!

Ken that's a great sunset/sunrise shot.
Andy, the shot through the window really communicates the mood/weather of the situation and I also love those tree shot you posted.

Here's some from this weekends excursion to the edge of the mountains.

This is Five Springs Falls and it is very difficult to get a good full length view due to the trees growing in the canyon. The light was disappearing so I couldn't get any further up without endangering my health. I hope to go back soon and try to get a fuller view of the fall. The last shot was taken on my way back to the highway and the exposure is just over 4 minutes.

Thanks the hefay :)

Looks like you had a fruitful time in the mountains. Numbers 3,5 and 6 are my favs. Love the long exposure water in 3 and 5, and the last one reminds of the fire wyrm in 13th Warrior :) .

Beautiful waterfall picture. Love the long exposure water. I like the colour in the trees above the falls but can't quite make up my mind whether I'd prefer more tree or to crop them out completely. Just a thought :)

Thanks Birma. I think I should've had more trees at the top. I wish I would've framed a little larger when I was taking the shots. I think I have an excuse though. I was preoccupied with my Mom. She came with me and was wanting to learn how to take long exposure pictures of water moving and so I spent a fair share of my time showing her how to adjust shutter, iso, 2 sec timer, etc on her camera. Since Dad retired, she has really become interested in photography. Overall, the day was beautiful, the hamburgers were tasty, the air was pure, the company was fantastic and I'm content with the shots we brought home. :D

On another note, I really need a graduated ND filter to help with the bright horizons such as above the waterfall.

That is an excellent excuse The Hefay! :) It sounds like you had a great time at the falls.

I find light at the top of falls like this is very tricky. I have given up fiddling with grad filters and I'd go with blending two exposures I think in this case if the DR was beyond what you could comfortably get in camera.

The actual fall of water you have captured here is fabulous.

That's another option. I've never done much blending of photos so that will involve learning something new. Hopefully I catch n quickly. :)

Here is something a bit different from me. It is based on 'intentional camera movement' although I like the term blurry-graph! :) I like the ways it deconstructs the picture into the base colours and then gives an overall texture. This was taken on the last day of our summer holiday. The weather was rather mixed and we were sitting on the rocks by the sea, watching rain clouds pass by over the green sea.
