Henry,
The person in the middle and the pigeons on top convey the scale so eloquently.

Yes, this is a great composition and I sign everything Sury wrote.
When I visited Japan, I had a great opportunity to visit this particular place with a native japanese person. As I'm sure you know the controversial nature of this place, it was defineatly interesting to hear how she thought of it (she didn't approve it) and how difficult subject it was to talk about.

Re: Tiny sensor revenge gallery thread!
The Yasukuni-jinja is somewhat controversial, but maybe not as much as some Japanese and some foreigners want it to be. I have no particular problem with it. A majority of Japanese support the prime minister and other high ranking government officials visiting there each year to pray and pay their respects to Japanese who have died fighting for Japan and the emperor, not just in WWII. Like in any war, most of the military people are not politicians and don't start wars. They are just the ones who do most of the killing and dying. I guess most Japanese have sort of mixed feelings about it, but they also know that people, mostly men, in their own families of previous generations fought and died. The controversy is mostly about a few of the people who are enshrined there with connection to WWII. WWII was a long time ago.Kalainen wrote:When I visited Japan, I had a great opportunity to visit this particular place with a native japanese person. Dead umbrellas are never buried or cremated. They are left as memorials to the good service they have provided. Japan is a respectful society.

Interesting concept Henry, regarding dead umbrellas. Nice shots too.
I wonder what is the motivation behind it, unless it was your editorial
observation.

Yesterday and today are gorgeous fall days, but it was raining on Friday. Here is a single autumn leaf on the ground. I bent over it with my umbrella protecting me from the rain when I took this photo.

Nice one Henry. I like the water droplets, and the three lines intersecting.

Henry, I like your leaf. Also enjoyed your dead umbrellas. They make good subject matter!
My leaves shot with a KM A2 and SERIOUSLY modified in Lightroom... Same shot different interpretations.

Nice shots Henry and Tony.
Tony, I find the second treatment is hard hitting (I did not say harsh)
and somewhat ambivalent in my opinion.
