If so, Something must be wrong on my end.

Re: Blur/Bokeh - Open Thread
Thanks Valery!
Love your 135mm ZA photos JT. And your shot of the glass reminded me of some shots I took with the 85mm ZA.
A few years back, the St. Louis Ballet was hosting a dinner Gala on the opening night of Romeo & Juliet. The Gala was being held before the show in the lobby of the theater. They weren't able to get the "company" photographer for the event, so at the last minute they asked me to take a few shots before I got into my costume. The intent was to use the shots as promotional photos for future Galas. The only thought going through my head was: how do I make the theater lobby look romantic?. The answer: 85mm ZA.

Nice shot! To me, the bokeh is not only nice, but it also lends to the balance of the composition.

Just a rose in the garden.
Shot with a macro lens at 1:1. Minolta 7D . Not too much blur or bokeh but ....
This at 1:10

Re: Blur/Bokeh - Open Thread
I especially like that first one! Very nice!
I recall that back in 2008 and 2009 in Hawaii I sometimes took super shallow DOF macro photos of flowers with my A700 + Sigma 90mm f2.8 macro. Just for fun here are a couple.

Re: Blur/Bokeh - Open Thread
Thank you, Henry. Of your two, I like the first but maybe they could both use a little more contrast or clarity?

Thank you, Sury. Both shots are of the same plant. I started at 1:10 and ended up at 1:1.
