.

Lovely shots, Sury. :)

The third is especially colourful and well-composed while the second is an eye-catcher. The first is a bit tilted but nice flamingos with a variety of tints... :)

Thanks for sharing,

Yildiz, thank you. Henry, that is a heck of a shot, timing wise.

I recall that I was watching the Anhinga going into the water and then coming back up over and over. Then one time when he came up he had speared this fish! The darn bird though wouldn't settle down. He was quickly moving his head from side to side and also moving around while standing in the water. I was using the Minolta Alpha 707si + Minolta 100-300mm f4.5-5.6 at 300mm and trying to focus on his moving head/neck, but because of all the movement in and out of the focus point I kept getting the background in focus then the bird in focus then nothing in focus. I finally was able to nail this shot though. He looks so still, but it was just a 1 second lull before he moved again. Oh, it might have been a she, not a he. I don't know that much about birds. :)

I am way past birds and bees, Henry.
This bird is not eating the morsel but it dips it in the water to attract fish.
When the fish come to nibble on the food, snap. Switch and bait at its best.

Very impressive shots, Bakubo, Sury, Smulnik; :)

Henry, that's quite the action shot ! The result looks worth all the trial/error efforts. : )

Sury, you were good starting this thread, because those three shots of yours are bursting with vivid colours. That's a very smart water bird. Apart from having beautifully distinctive feather colours, it uses tools...amazing.

Smulnik, those colours are amazing as well as the close up details. I don't think the bird is a Turkey Vulture, they are bald around the head and the bodies are covered with muted black/grey plumage. :)

Edit: It's a King Vulture apparently. Link: KING VULTURE

Thanks for figuring that out! I was close... it was a type of vulture. :D

Here's one that's more in line with the nice photos that Sury and Henry posted...
and a little better looking than the snake and King Ugly thing that I posted.

Cool shots!

Tony, I love that bird with the spikey feathers on its head.

Valery, that dog almost looks like a stuffed toy animal. :)
