Thanks everyone for their responses, cool collections all.

UK magazine amateur photographer regular run articles on iconic film cameras but I have yet to see Minolta feature.

It seems also that there is a [crazy] world of camera collectors out there who have no intention of ever using them, but displaying them in cabinets.

Though I had a Minolta X-370 for a couple of months (even less) back in the 80s, I mainly settled on A-mount jumping ship from Nikon film cameras.

I came to Minolta film cameras after I got my A100; before that I had all sorts of SLRs, including a string of Olympuses ending in the iS-3000, a nice 35-180 all-in-one zoom body.

My first Minolta film SLR was a Dynax 5 (for AF mount compatibility) and then earlier this year I went on a spree of manual focus cameras and lenses:

SRT 100x
XD-7

Vivitar 28/2.8
W.Rokkor 35/2.8
Rokkor 50/2
Minolta 50/1.7
Rokkor 50/1.4
Rokkor 135/2.8
Rokkor 200/4

Remarkably affordable lenses, compared to AF mount equivalents.

Hmm....let's see:

Bodies:
9000 -- stolen and replaced, still have replacement. Probably will forever, since it's hardly worth selling any more.
9 (non-SSM) -- still have, not sure why I keep it, except I'm not sure it's really worth selling anymore either.
7Hi -- gave away when I bought:
K/M 7D -- sold when I bought:
Sony A 700 -- all I really use any more.

Accessories:
MD 90 + Program Back Super 90 for 9000
Vertical grips for the 9, 7D and A 700. Always bought along with the camera, and only ever removed very temporarily for cleaning and such.
Various flashes, last used around a decade ago or so (though I still use studio flashes).

Fixed focal length lenses:
MinO 28/2.8
MinO 35/1.4
MinO 50/1.7
MinO 50/2.8 Macro -- sold with 7D
K/M 85/1.4
K/M 100/2.8 Macro
MinO 135/2.8

Zooms:
K/M 11-18 4.5-5.6
MinO 35-105 -- stolen along with original 9000, replaced with:
MinO 28-135
Tamron 70-210 3.5 - 4.5 (or something like that). Traded in on:
Minolta 100-300 4.5-5.6 (non APO). Gave to a friend when I bought:
Tamron 70-210/2.8

So, I have all but one fixed focal length lens I ever owned, but half the zooms have disappeared, and the 70-210 is liable to go as soon as I get a 200/2.8.

I'm afraid I've done a poor job of supporting Sony's effort to sell lenses -- the whole time I've owned the Sony body, it's never had a Sony lens mounted to it. Worse, there's no end in sight -- my next lens will probably be a 200/2.8. Sony should probably send me a 135/1.8 and a 70-400G for free just to end such a travesty!

Hi all,
Some really kewl collections posted here. Here's my list.

1971- SR-T 100 w/ 50mm 1.7- Sold
1981- SR-T 201- Sold
1986- Tamron 60-300 Macro (World's best Macro, but HEAVY) and 28-80 Macro
1986- X-570- one swimming lesson and one CLA, works fine
2005- Maxxum HTsi and 35-70- My first ever AF...I like it, but...
2005- Maxxum 800si- Sold
2005- X-700
2005- Maxxum XTsi- needed repair
2005- Maxxum HTsi Plus- parts donor for XTsi
2007- Maxxum HTsi- Now my wife's "zipcam"- see below
2007- Tamron 28-70 on the HTsi makes incredibly light SLR w/ features
2008- Maxxum 7  OH Yeah!!!
2008- Maxxum XTsi- needs repair- AF module or mirror reset.

2007- Sunpak Auto30DX- One of the best back in the day
2007- Tamron 70-300 Macro and 1.4 TC- disappointing after the MF 60-300

plus assorted flashes and lenses.

What do I reach for most often these days?
Maxxum 7...love the creative choices and how it fits my hand
XTsi...lighter weight yet still can do WL flash
KM 28-100...versatile lens for most uses
KM 50mm 1.7...in case I need a low light solution
Tamron 1.4 TC...for a little stretch without losing too much light

Likely future Minolta?
The Maxxum 70/Dynax 60- Yes, I know its crippled with a slow flash sync and a slow top speed, but better AF than the 3-point XTsi in a lightweight body that is not sized for a child.

Blessing to all,
Lightspirit

This is my Minolta and Sony collection. Top shelf left to right. My trusty old Minolta 9000, KM 7D and A700.
Middle shelf. NEX 5N, A7 and Minolta 7000i
Bottom shelf. Assorted lenses, flashes and adapters.

Looking forward to adding a few more old Minolta film cameras in there. I'd like an old 7000 in decent condition as it was my first ever SLR back in the late 80's. Quite like to get an X-700 as some point too. One or two of the later Minolta film cameras would be quite interesting to get hold of as well.

I have a few old Minolta cameras and lenses. As long as you're not looking for top-of-the-line lenses, the stuff is pretty cheap. Plus, I got a 7000 w/50/1.7 from a family member. So, it's not too hard to get a collection started, but really, I'm not going to collect 'em all. :-) I like rangefinders, so I finally got a Minolta E offa eBay, but I have a couple of other brands too, when it comes to old rangefinder style cameras. I just have trouble bringing myself to use film; digital is so more convenient.
