Went to Arlington National Cemetery this morning. Some shots just seemed like they should be in B&W.

Love the first one in the second set JB. The soldier's hat is so perfectly aligned, I though he was
carrying the fountain atop his head. It threw me off. But the lone soldier at the location is quite poignant.

Thanks Sury. Interesting experience. What you see is part of the changing of the guard ceremony. Representatives of a Boy Scout troop laid a wreath at the tomb as well. Pretty powerful stuff.

One more.

Indeed is powerful. That's why I did not want to sully the image by adding any smiley icons,
and merely express my observation. Images and ceremonies like these are always very emotional.
Pride on one side of the bravery, pain on the other side for all the suffering.

With best regards,

Thanks for the comments. I didn't have a plan for this visit. I ended up shooting whatever looked interesting to me. The common theme in the images is the common them in the cemetery. You see large, strong, and permanent objects. Soldiers, standing like pillars. Old majestic trees as solid as the founding looking over their fallen caretakers. I did see the tree limbs embracing the stones, did not think about the soldiers and structures until viewing my gallery a few times. None the less, these not so subtle themes were subtle to me from behind the viewfinder.
Last ones for today.

Overexposed, I know. A missed opportunity but still a worthy composition.

Very striking images JT. The pictures of the rows of headstones are especially moving.

I'm not sure I've posted this one from this spring so here goes. If it's a repost just remember I'm old and senile.

Impressive.

Took this at a friend's house. I think the sliding glass door is too much. Tried to balance the rectangle with the circle.

Impressive indeed, Jeff. Nice B&W treatment.
I find it to be nicely balanced though the white
is a tad harsher. The cue stick is nicely creating
a separation.
