Beautiful shot Valery.
Slate-crowned Antpitta
From the Rio Blanco Reserve near Manizales, Colombia
Sony a6000 with 1.8 24 mm
Re: Birds 2015
Hi Valery,
All very esthetic and aerodynamically correct in that pelican shot. I enjoyed the slight action blur...
Nicely shot.
Hi Pitter,
After the many beautiful Motmots with long-shafted tail feathers, this Slaty-crowned antpitta, with almost no tail feather to show came as a nice change. What a beautiful and compact bird it is.
Thanks for sharing all,
Yildiz

Nice little antpitta Pitter.
Here's another of the owl on the nest with the sunlight hitting it pretty good. Taken with the a77ii and Tamron 70-300. The crop is just to show some of the feather detail, especially below the eyes, that this lens picked up. I was actually quite surprised.

Thanks Sury. The more I use it the more I like the button layout. It also seems like I'm able to pull more out of the raw files than I could with the a580 as far as highlights, shadows and exposure. But that may just be an impression and not factual.
Everytime I walk by this short, dense evergreen in my yard 4 birds fly out. After some investigation I found two nests. The one with the eggs is a house finch I believe. The one with the little birds might be finches but I'm not sure. Please don't panic anyone. The birds are back on the nest. They were flying in and out constantly while I was mowing the lawn. Since they always fly in and out from different spots I have a hard time telling what birds are nesting in which nest.
