I Have Lived

Unread post by jbtaylor »

45 minutes from Washington DC for most of my life. I cannot explain why it only occurred to me yesterday to visit the National Mall. Glad I finally did.
Some with the RX1 and some with the a900. I have discovered that the RX1 is great for sight seeing. I handheld most of the shots but did whip out the tripod. Regardless, the EVF and it's ability to extend straight up is a blessing for shooting low or just looking from the top of the tripod. Don't buy this camera without it. On the other had, the menu system frustrates. Changing from auto ISO to defined ISO, as well as changing focus points on the fly is less than intuitive. That is being nice.
On to it then.

Excellent shots JB. I would have liked a tad more blur on the walkers in the first one.

Thanks Sury. Interesting to note, that was an 8 second exposure. It was the longest one I took that was a keeper. I did take one with the 14mm on the a900 that was 30 seconds. Not sure why it was that long but lens flare killed that image.

Here is one at 6 seconds.

Interesting. Since camera is on a tripod, would a ND/CPL with longer exposure helped with lens flare?
I may be showing my ignorance here, never the less, just curious.

The outer element on the Tamron 14mm 2.8 is rounded. It is quite the animal. Never seen a filter that could be used for it.

Aah. I missed the detail on that 14mm. Since the widest I have is 24mm, I have no idea about the travails of a UWA lens.
Mea culpa.

No worries. It is a specialty lens for sure. Their 12 mm required a film filter that attached to the lens hood. Regardless, sometimes I think I will sell this lens but then I get shots like this:

My mistake. I misread your comment on walkers as water and thought you were referring to the fountain shot. I could have gone from f4 to f2 but I had just snapped a shot of the entire wall and forgot to change it.

I realized you were talking about the fountain from your reply and another example of 6 secs. exposure,
hence I continued talking about it. :)
No issues. It is what it is. :D Those evenings shots are very enjoyable never the less.
