Adobe Bridge CC DAM is free to everyone

Unread postby bakubo » Sat Feb 04, 2017 3:01 am

Previously the Adobe Bridge DAM (digital asset manager) was bundled with Photoshop, but today I learned on a forum that some time back Adobe unbundled it and also made it free for everyone. It also gets regular updates to recognize new raw files, bug fixes, etc.

It’s True: Adobe Bridge CC Is 100% Free for You to Download & Use

I use Lightroom/Photoshop CC these days so I use the DAM in LR, but for someone who wants a separate DAM then this is probably a good choice.

There are lots of choices when it comes to DAM software. Some are free such as Bridge and some are not free. If anyone uses Bridge as a DAM then please let us know your thoughts. It is my understanding that it creates thumbnails and you can assign star ratings, keywords, etc.. Then you can search/filter on those and other things. You can also open a photo in your choice of editor or raw processor.

I read something today that I didn't realize. Adobe Camera Raw is included with Bridge and it can be used directly from Bridge without Photoshop. Anyone done this? Sounds interesting. Lightroom is basically a DAM + ACR integrated together for a pretty nice workflow. I have been using Lightroom for more than 5 years. I wonder, is the Bridge DAM + ACR similar functionality?

These are some of the photo organizing features that are in Bridge which are very similar to what you can do in Lightroom:

keywords: check
star ratings: check
color labels: check
sorting: check
searching/filtering: check
manage & set metadata: check
create collections: check
