I just wondered if one of the Sony Systems E mount APS-C such as the NEX/A6XXXX, E mount FF or either A mount APS-C or A mount FF, is going to survive, some photo writer on another forum felt Sony are running too many alternatives and felt one of them won't survive in a diminishing […]

The only difference is as far as I can tell is the actual camera body.Excluding of course the actual sensor unit. I am rather confused as to what point classiccamera is attempting to make.Statistics: Posted by peterottaway — Thu Dec 08, 2016 11:24 am

Interchangeably.I'd LOVE to see […]

A firmware upgrade that refines shooting responses and creative options for the α900 and α850 35mm full-frame DSLR cameras has been released by Sony. All new and existing customers are advised to install the upgrade, available to download from the ‘Support’ area of the Sony web site.

Getty adds A900 to approved camera list

Stock library Getty Images has added the Sony Alpha 900 to its rather restricted list of approved cameras – a very recent move, as it happened between the writing/research for my article appearing in the British Journal of Photography on February 18th, and publication. Changing the Alpha 900 focusing screen

This is not a step by step, since the instructions for this operation are very clear and the procedure is simple and nearly foolproof. It is simply a reassurance for those worried about changing their screen, with some tips.

Tilt-shift with full frame DSLRs

After just a short while working with full frame, high resolution DSLRs the need for tilt lenses has really come home to me. Most lenses deliver their best results at fairly wide apertures like f8, it’s easy for detail to begin to look soft and lacking impact if you are forced to stop down to . . . → Read More: Tilt-shift with full frame DSLRs

Sony Alpha 900 and Nikon D3X raw file noise comparison

Like Mike Johnston writing in The On-Line Photographer, I’m aware that any attempt to line up one or more cameras and show comparison images or make judgements is on to a loser from the start. And any webmaster who puts an external link in the first half dozen words of a new post is losing . . . → Read More: Sony Alpha 900 and Nikon D3X raw file noise comparison

New Photoworld – Alpha 900 A2 foldout poster

For any large circulation magazine to create a page section which folds out to view a A2 size is too expensive to consider – but Photoworld, subscribed to by enthusiasts and printed in a short run of only 1,600 copies, goes out on November 5th with a foldout sample image.

Do you really need an Alpha 900?

If you are on the verge of making a decision, I’m here to help your think clearly – even if it means breaking some cherished behaviour patterns. I am going to help you think of the Alpha 900 not as a logical progression from the 700, but as a different camera system entirely.

Alpha 900 launch: Press Conference Part 4

Duncan McEwan spoke, in his usual very steady and friendly manner, about his experience of using the Alpha 900. He showed a selection of images taken – remarkably – over a period of just 10 days preceding the event, using a 24-70mm CZ and his own 70-200mm Minolta SSM. Here is his own ‘script’ for . . . → Read More: Alpha 900 launch: Press Conference Part 4

Alpha 900 and photokina: Part 1

OUR final production Alpha 900 body arrived on Saturday September 20th, and went along to photokina 2008 on Monday 22nd where it was used in a routine way – without flash – to take whatever pictures were needed for magazine reports. Sometimes it can be better just to use a camera on whatever difficult or . . . → Read More: Alpha 900 and photokina: Part 1
