Thanks guys!A frozen Horseshoe lake. The lake is only about 6 feet deep and freezes quickly. It's just 10 minutes from my house, so it's one of my quick go-to places if it looks there is going to be a nice sunrise or sunset.SigSunrise SunsetStatistics: Posted by smulnik — Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:51 pm

Sony at photokina – business solutions

We have received the first press release today (Sept 8th) for Sony’s presence at photokina 2008. It doesn’t mention the still DSLR range except in referring to digital photography in general. Here is the text.

Sony will be exhibiting at Photokina 2008  from 25 – 28 September 2008
(comment – photokina is the 23-28th!)
Stand D010-F031, Hall 5.2, Cologne exhibition Centre

Basingstoke, UK September 2008
– Using the strapline”images like.no.other”, at Photokina 2008, Sony Professional Solutions Europe will be presenting the complete line-up of professional printing solutions – including the new photo-finishing terminal UPA-PC700, the compact multi-function printer SnapLab UP-CR20L and the UPX-C300 passport photo system. With these new products, Sony is completing its range to become the leading supplier of flexible instant-print solutions to cater for all customer requirements. With its extended photographic programme, Sony will also be exhibiting HDV and XDCAM EX video products from the professional film and broadcast segment for the very first time at this year’s show.

“Sony has never presented such a comprehensive range from its B2B division at Photokina. We will be showing impressive new products from all fields of digital photography in order to underline that we can offer market-leading solutions for a wide range of applications”, explains Mark Bülow, Marketing Manager for Sony Europe. “For the first time, Sony will also be presenting the full range of entry-level professional camcorders at Photokina”, adds Bill Drummond, Product Marketing Manager for Sony Europe.

New products for photo printing

The UP-CR20L photo printer supplements the successful SnapLab family of compact professional printing solutions and complements the high-end range. The all-in-one table unit is easy to use and prints photos in excellent quality in various picture formats. In addition, it provides new functionality such as printing onto various surfaces (matt and high-gloss) and the production of calendars or greeting cards. Thanks to a range of various invoicing functions the UP-CR20L can be flexibly integrated into a wide range of business models. Therefore the new SnapLab is especially suitable for professional applications in service and trade, for example in supermarkets, pharmacies, hotels or photographic shops with a small to medium number of customers.

The new UPA-PC700 photo kiosk was developed in Europe to respond to specific market demands and offers excellent Sony printing quality on a dye-sublimation basis in a modern attractive design. At the same time, the UPA-PC700 delivers a new, greatly simplified operation to minimise user error and  to appeal to new target groups. The kiosk can also be extended to create a larger installation or even multi-kisok or multi-printer networks. This and other features, which make the terminal of interest for a wide range of applications will be presented in Europe for the first time at Photokina.

The professional photography solutions display is rounded off by the new UPX-C30 passport photo system, consisting of an 8 megapixelcamera for taking identification photos and biometric images for identity cards and passports with wireless transfer to the associated photo-printer.

Professional Video

As well as digital photography, Sony will also be exhibiting selected products from its professional camcorder line-up. The highlight is the HVR-Z7E HDV camcorder, which is compatible with the SLR lenses from Sony’s Alpha series and therefore forms a pioneering bridge between the worlds of photography and video. In addition, the new semi-shoulder XDCAM EX3 Sony camcorder with ½-inch Full HD image converter and video recording on modern SxS memory cards can also be seen. The HDV and XDCAM EX series have recently become available in local photographic shops in Germany via new distribution channels. For the first time, photographic dealers can now offer products with considerably increased technical and creative possibilities to ambitious amateur film-makers and semi-professionals.
